How can I get the local cops to help protect a hiking trail?
I recently took a hiking trip to the Pine Mountain Trail in KY/VA. When I was there I saw something that really made me angry. There was a group people driving up the trail on offroad vehicles. I think some of the model names of them are Rhino and Mule but I'm not sure what to call them. They sort of look like and offroad golf cart. Anyway they were just destroying the trail. One got stuck and I couldn't help but laugh at him. Because of lazy people like them, I had to walk through deep puddles of mud that their tires had left. My whole hike was me walking through mud. I'm so irritated about this. The trail has a policy about being only for foot traffic. Who could I contact about something like this?
Trust me they were not cops
i know what ur talking about...i live on va horse trail and live 1/4 mile from appy...all kind of crap goes on on them...report as many details to forest service.....ive delt with the forest service,,hopeless/helpless all you can do is report it. several times ive gone to Mount rodgers headquarters in Sugar grove to report things..[once to return a trail sign someone knocked over,,,never to be seen again.lol] its a waste of time but i do it,,and carry a gun when up in the woods just in case. try google/yahoo US forest service they do have a nice site lol
