Our Baldwin Smartkey dead bolt has forgotten the original key and no new one was set.?
So now the dead bolt can not be turned to the learning position to be able to insert the learning tool and we can not re key the door again to the original key.
What should we do to fix this? Call a lock smith?
Well at the time I didn't know you had to have a key that was compatible with the system. I though just any old key would do, but as it turns out I was wrong.
Hmm, sounds like your "smartkey" is not so smart after all, eh? 
Without being able to turn the key to the learning position, you're 'dead in the water' as they say, so, either call a locksmith to have him sort it out, or, if you're "handy," then a cheaper alternative would be to just grab a screwdriver and remove the whole darn lock entirely and go to a home improvement store and get a whole new one and replace it entirely!
Considering the hourly rates that locksmiths charge for housecalls, that would probably be the cheaper way to do it!
