How to edit photos in corel paintshop photo pro x3?
Im using a trial edition of Corel Paintshop Photo Pro X3 as stated above. I want to know how to take a photo and edit to have the same effect as this one

There are probably many ways to do this and there are variables as well that deal with what you start with. The image that you've linked too started with a pretty high contrast to begin with. For reference lets take a copy of the original that I found online at random.

I did this in the Full Editor mode of PSP X3
First thing is to make it even contrastier:
Brightness Contrast: Brightness -54, Contrast 78
The background will go white and the subject is now rather 2 dimensional. To get a different image to do this you may need to erase background objects and convert to grayscale.
Now, use the magic wand selection tool;
Mode: Add (or replace),
Match Mode: RGB Value,
Tolerance: 3 (or very low), Contiguous is checked (means when you click on something it only chooses the same color of the connected image)
Feather: 0
Other options are irrelevant for this.
Select the background portion, which is now rather white.
Use your fill tool (looks like a paint bucket), the colors will be dependent on what's on your materials palette. Left click fills with the foreground color, right click fills with the background color.
Fill the background.
Straighten to taste, crop, add a border if you want. SAVE AS A COPY!!! Never overwrite your original file EVER.
