How can I determine the size of ball head for my tripod?
I have a Tripod that is - Ambico V-0554, I'm planning on buying a ball head for it but i cant seem to figure out how to measure it correctly so i get the right fit. It would seem that i've lost the plate that attaches to the camera for the quick release & I only have the part that has a lever to release the plate, thus half of the "quick release"
Any help would be great, I'm a novice at tripods so I need the help.
O also, How can i know what thread size my camera takes? so that the quick release plate will fit the camera and the quick release will attach to the ball head and ball head to tripod lol

The size of the ball head you use will be determined by the weight of your camera and lens. If you are using a small point and shoot camera then a tiny little ball head will work fine. If you have an SLR with a 600mm lens then you need a large head or it wont be able to hold the camera and lens up.
Virtually all cameras have the same thread size so this wont be a problem.
My suggestion is to go to a good camera store with your tripod, camera and the largest lens you have and ask them for help. Check out a few options and see what you like best.
