How do I fix this bowling problem?
When I throw my ball the spin overpowers the strength and it spins too much and misses the head pin. I start on the last arrow and aim for the second arrow on the right but the ball just misses the pocket completely even when I throw it as hard as I can.
How do I fix this?
Do I release the ball earlier or later than usual?
or do I do something else like buy the stuff that makes my ball grip on the lane better?
I'm a high school freshman and the ball I'm talking about weighs 15 lbs.
I'd say you're putting too much speed on the ball along with unnecessary wrist and finger movement while releasing, which makes it spin "like a top" going straight without any hook. That explains your outside shot going nowhere near the pocket.
I'd just relax when going through the entire delivery and breathe. You don't have to power the ball down the lane to get the desired result (strike). Probably stand a bit to the left (one or two steps) from your actual starting point, use the same 10 board target (2nd arrow) and when you release the ball, don't power through, but rather take your time with a pendulum type swing and a followthrough that ends with your hand pointed towards your target and finish like you just shook someone's hand.
Depending on your bowling ball's coverstock and core, if you do the basics when throwing it, it will definitely hook evenly and without forcing it to hook, it will not spin like a top and go nowhere. Good luck!
