Questions about studio equipment and how to get quality sound at home?
Alright right now all I use is Cool Edit Pro and a 25 dollar Dynamic Microphone to record. I have a few questions on how to get qaulity sound?
What is the purpose of a mixer, they cost so much and have all these buttons and crap what do they do for your sound?
Why do most studio mics need to be plugged into AMPS, is it ok to just by USB Condensor Mics?
Where is a place to buy cheap studio quipment such as a mic (which is my main necessity now). I know the more something is the better it is, but any where with relatively cheap prices?
Anyone use Cool Edit Pro who can show me how to make the sound quality better after a verse (It's okay if you don't know how, if you do skip this one =P)
And last, are there any general tips to get good sound. I'm tired of using what I have now, and people love my tracks, and I feel the quality of the sound is holding me back! I NEED HELP!!!!!
you can get perfectly good quality on cheap equipment
higher end usually goes through better filtering and crap
with cool edit pro, select the area ya wanna make charges to and apply various filters of different types to it till it sounds good
oh, forgot to mention, in studios they also are accoustically isolated(ie, soundproof room) so ONLY what they want recorded is recorded
