What kind of things would help we stand out but not in a goth or punk way?
I want to stand out more in style, like my friend wears crazy patterns and high socks, but I don't want to copy her. Any ways for me to stand out and get attention (good) for it?
You could try experimenting with your make-up. Try applying it a bit different then you usually do (if you even wear any make-up). Don't make the change to drastic but try out some new colours of eyeshadow, who knows? You may even find a really pretty shade for your skintone. If you usually wear stud earrings you could try wearing some cute dangling earrings or even a nice pair of hoops. It may not sound like it makes much of a difference but it should.
If you wear your hair straight most of the time, you could try achieving some loose waves which would look gorgeous. Avoid super tight curls though as that probably wouldn't look as nice. If you wear your hair curly for the most part, do the opposite and straighten you hair. Both of these ideas will make quite a large difference and trust me, people will notice! 
In order for you to stand out you must be confident with yourself and be sure to keep a smile on your face.
