Nikon D5000 camera kid with 18-55 lens problem?
Hi everyone,
I am having trouble with my nikon camera which seemed to be just fine yesterday. whatever i tried the lens will not autofocus and all you get is blurry images. even when i try to focus manually the blurry image doesnt change. and all you can do is take close ups to avoid the blurriness. i have no idea what is going on. is something wrong with my lens? or is it the camera? i feel really lost and would need some help!

Check that the switch on the side of the lens is in the autofocus position. You may have this switch in manual focus. See page 60 in your manual.
There's also a menu setting for manual focus. Be sure it is set to one of the autofocus modes. See page 54 in your manual.
Nikon has problems with the lens contacts which will prevent autofocus, however, since you can take a picture, this is probably not your problem. Cure for this is to twist the base of the lens back and forth (gently) to clean the lens contacts.
