what is the best pro-sumer video camera? all info appreciated - recording formats brands specs etc - thank you?
by prosumer, I mean I would like something that will mainly record birthday parties and soccer games - but I also work in advertising and i would like something that i could use to shoot in a pinch and would be passable on local broadcast tv - even if it needs a bit of color correction.
Step 1: Define "prosumer" video camera:
Lenses 37mm filter diameter or larger.
Imaging chips 1/6" or larger.
1/8" (3.5mm) stereo audio in jacks.
Manual audio control.
Step 2: Identify which camcorders have the items in Step 1.
Sony HDR-FX1000 or FX7, HVR-HD1000, Canon HV40, GL2. No internal hard drive - No AVCHD.
Step 3: What is your budget?
Step 4: Don't forget all the other stuff:
High capacity rechargable battery (from the camcorder manuafacturer).
Tripod
Video light
Mics (shotgun - NRG Research SA-568, RODE video mic; stereo - Audio Technica or Rode; wireless lavaliere - Audio Technica)

Be sure your computer can handle the editing requirements of high definition. Be sure your computer EXCEEDS the video editing application's minimum requirements. Firewire port.
