Linking my computer to my tv?
Need some advice and help on linking my computer to my tv. What settings do i need to change on computer if any to get it on my tv. Any help much appreciated. thanks
God the other answers are terrible.
There is no such thing as a standard DVI to composite video adaptor like Matt L suggests, maybe there is a propietry one for your laptop but I doubt it.
While you could use the cable you mention the results will be poor. You have a largeish HDTV and you no doubt will want a better image than can be transmitted through old fasioned S-Video.
Your best bet is probablly to use the VGA input connected using a VGA cable (note: check the gender of the VGA socket on your TV, you will probablly want a male-male cable but you may want a male-female cable). You will have to set your laptop up as if there was an external monitor (unfortunately how this is done varies by model so it's hard to give exact advice on how to do it) and set the resoloution to something your TV can handle (I've unfortunately found that HDTVs are often very finniky about what resoloutions.
If you want audio you will need a seperate audio cable. There will probablly either a mini-jack or a pair of phono sockets next to the VGA socket that will be used for audio when the VGA input is selected. Check what type of connector(s) it is and get the appropriate audio cable to link it to your laptop.
