what size DOF adapter fits on a Cannon VIXIA HF200 Camcorder?
i want to get one of these but don't know what size to get? and can my camcorder even use this? how much would it cost? please tell me all you can
my guess you want to take cinematic look shots that have a very narrow depth of field. with some camcorders, you can adapt it to use conventional SLR type lenses that have a focal length and iris size capable of doing this. the most common adaptor used with HDV cameras is a Letus.
unfortunately your Vixia uses a very tiny CCD. it is only 1/4 inch image size, so putting a long focal length lens on this is totally impractical.
it does have a relatively large filter ring for this class of camera at 37mm. you can mount a Cokin A series filter holder. With filters you can add useful cinematic effects. a center spot filter keeps the focus of the center of the frame sharp and blurs the edges, this is similar to DOF effect. fog or mist filters are useful for softening the appearent focus of distant objects as well.
