Subwoofer amplifier keeps turning off?!?!?
Okay so I'll run through my setup...
I have 4 gauge wire running to a 1 farad capacitor then to a fuse distribution block. From the block, the wire splits into two 4 ga. wires which each run to a Kicker 750 zx amplifier which are each powering a Kicker 12" L7.
I had these installed awhile ago and they worked great, however I added another Kicker 15" L7 with the two 12s and had the one amp running to the 15, while the other was split to the 12s. I now have the 15 running on a completely different line so it doesn't matter for this question.
The problem is, when I turn the volume up loud, one of the amplifiers turns off and back on very quickly and will only power the sub for some of the notes. It almost seems like it is sputtering. The other amplifier works fine and hits all the notes it just seems to be the one. Is this possibly an internal problem on the amplifier?
yes it could be the ground wire...
but also realize that your stock alternator can usually only handle 500-1000 watts safely before not being able to supply all the power your amps are trying to pull from it.
so do your math, add up the need.. and consider doing a BIG 3 change to your car. google search it.
oh and capacitors aren't worth having unless your car is from the 80s
they usually just become ANOTHER piece of equipment that requires electricity to operate.
so consider even removing it from your set up.
