how to use bokeh on my kodak?
ok i have a kodak easyshare z1012is and i want to use bokeh on it but my aperture ony goes to 2.8 and i think it needs to get lower than that. If any one could give me some tips or a how to , to do this it would help a lot i have been trying to do this forever but i can never really figure it out. OH and also can i buy lenses and put them on them on my camera?

You seem to be getting answers all over the map on this.
First of all, 2.8 is a plenty wide enough aperture for good bokeh.... BUT.... your limiting factor is that you are using a point a shoot camera. The TINY sensor on these cameras make it much more diifficult to achieve good bokeh, as compared to the same aperture on a DSLR with it's much larger sensor.
So yes, you CAN get the effect, but it will require some more effort on your part. First of all, set the camera so you KNOW it is using the 2.8 aperture. If you are using it in any kind of automatic mode, then the aperture could be anything. Just because it says it has the capability of 2.8 in low light conditions does not mean it is going to use that in other conditions. You MUST manually set the aperture to 2.8, and I am not even sure you can do that with that camera.
Now, assuming you CAN set the aperture to 2.8, the tiny sensor is still a problem with good bokeh. Be sure your subject is as far away from any background as possible. Do not, for instance, have a tree within a few feet of them. Any background elements need to be as far away as possible.
Then, another problem you will have is that for the best bokeh, you really need a long focal length, such as a 100mm lens focal length. If you zoom your lens out, more than likely you will lose the 2.8 aperture. Even lower cost lenses on an SLR do not have constant aperture and will close down when zoomed out. So in your case, you will probably have the most chance at good bokeh by zooming your lens out and placing your subject as far away from the background as possible. I really don't think you have any control over the aperture with your camera.
Bottom line is you are wanting to do something with a piece of equipment that is not capable of doing what you want. Sorry, it is a point and shoot digital, and it, and all others like it, have very real limitations.
