Some advice on building a PC please?
I've been using PCs for over 20 years so i have good knowledge of them. I've done everything from writing simple bat and ball games to web design, video editing for professional photo studios etc but one thing i've never done is build one.
I'd like to know, is it really as simple as just buying all the bits and connecting them together? If i bought all the following would it really be as easy as some "how to" guides make out just by connecting all the wires, fans etc installing windows and adjusting the BIOS?

And all the other bits like fans, a case etc. What are the main obstacles when building a system?
It's actually pretty easy to put together a system - especially if you're an experienced user. In fact, it is as simple as connecting parts together - you don't even need to solder anything.
However, you do need to make sure your parts are compatible with each other (it's no use buying a high spec CPU if it doesn't fit the socket on the motherboard).
I suggest you take a (recently published - max. 2 years old, preferably more recent) book on the subject out of your local library. I found the Haynes books to be very good, but I'm not sure whether there has been one published recently.
