Can you run a Dual Core Processor on a 250 Watts Power supply?
I'm currently running a Celeron single core, 2GB Ram, 1Hard Drive160Gb, DVD/RW, and integrated graphics.
I'm upgrading to a Intel Duel Core 3Ghz, 4 GB Ram, Second Hard Drive 500GB, PCI E Video Card 256Mb
All this in a TFX Case, problem is I cant find a large power suppy for the TFX cases. Would it be ok running it on a 250 Watt PS?
A dual core = 90 Watts
Mobo = 30 watts
Each stick of RAM = 20 Watts, so 2 sticks = 40 watts
CD/DVD = 5 - 10 Watts
Hard Disk = 5 - 10 Watts
Video Card it all depends on WHICH one = but can be up to 250 Watts!
A 250 watt PSU @ 80% efficency really only supplies: 200 Watts.
My answer is NO, it won't be sufficient. My solution - move the guts of the computer into a mid tower case and buy a larger PSU.
