Is a strobe light required for a studio? Can you buy a strobe light bulb or a strobe power cord?
I have a stationary kit with contionous lighting I was wondering how important is a strobe kit
You don't have to have a strobe for a studio. Some people use natural light from a window or skylight, others use light bulbs. Strobes give you a lot of light to make your exposure, but don't bother the eyes of your subjects. When you have a lot of light you can use umbrellas or other light modifiers to "soften" the light for a more pleasing effect. Also, strobe lights are pretty close to the color of daylight, which will render colors more accurately.
There are small strobes which will fit into a standard light socket. They are not very powerful so you might not have much luck using light modifiers.
