Will these lenses mount onto a Nikon D40 or D40x camera?
I read something about the Nikon D40(x) having the ability to take pre-AI lenses. I'm not sure what that exactly means since I am a novice but we have a 1.8 and 2.8 lenses that we used to mount onto our Canon AE-1 camera.
Through wikipedia I found out that the AE-1 used the Canon FD lens mount standard for connecting lenses, which is now obsolete.
I was wondering if the Nikon D40 or D40x would be able to mount these old lenses? Thanks.
No even close ... the FD lenses won't even fit on current Canon DSLR's
While Nikon's can use nearly all the lenses ever made since 1959 (not the D40, D40x or D60 however ... they will use any of the AF-S lenses made since 1985), Canon dumped their old FD series lenses and the cameras that supported them, so only EOS lenses (EF) will fit on Canon DSLR's
