studio lighting/wireless triggers and receivers etc...?
ok. ive been reading a lot about studio lights and whatnot. i know that you need a trigger and receiver. where the trigger goes onto your hotshoe and the receiver connects to your monolight. however, why do you need to connect a wireless receiver onto your mono light if it already has a built in slave sensor which automatically senses infrared light?
i want the wireless remote shutter release, will it sync with the lights?
ok. how do i get the lights to sync with my camera using a wireless shutter release? do the lights sense the transmitter on my camera? do i have to buy something for all of it to sync together?
the sensor on your mono light is more likely an "optical" sensor, meaning when it detects a sudden change in light intensity, it'll trigger its own strobe. In other words, you'll need a primary strobe to activate this slave strobe with built-in sensor.
If you want a wireless trigger, try pocket wizards - they've been reliable to me. They're transceivers, meaning that each PW can automatically transmit and receive radio signals (versus optical signals). So you don't have to fiddle which one is the transmitter or receiver and what should go where.
