A question for wedding photographers!!?
What type of lighting do you suggest for indoor weddings? My fiancee and I are just starting out and have come to realize that we need some sort of lighting for the ceremony when people are walking down the isle... We have a 430ex speedlight but have found it to not work very well when the ceilings are very high. We have been looking at radio triggers for off-camera flash set ups and sofboxes. We don't want to do slaves because we don't want guests triggering our flashes every 2 seconds...
So any suggestions would be great. Inexpensive is also very important too

Well... first you need to check with the church or wherever the wedding is being held. About 90% have it stated somewhere that flash photography is not allowed during the ceremony. Now, I've found out that it NEVER hurts to ask if you can have a couple of shots using flash. Usually I can get permission to use flash when people are walking down the aisle, the kiss, and the presentation of the new couple.
When the ceilings are too high, sometimes I'll bounce off one of the side walls if possible. If you can get access to the location beforehand, get in the position that you want to capture them coming down the aisle and have your fiancee stand in the spot where you want to capture them. Then adjust your flash so that it bounces off a side wall and lights up that area. Remember your location, that location, and the angle of your flash head.
If you are thinking of going the remote route, your very wise in avoiding optical triggers. They work well in the studio but outside of that, they just suck. You will be prevented from using flash photography most likely unless you've secured permission, but Uncle Joe and Aunt Mary won't have to abide by such rules. They'll be so many flashes going off that will trigger your strobes, you'll probably never be allowed to photograph there again. They aren't the cheapest, but PocketWizards are the smartest investment. There is a similar product called CyberSync which is more popular among the "budget" crowd.
Most of the time, I use the 550EX, 580EX, and 580EX II flashes. The results are pretty good and it's much easier than having to hang strobes.
