What would happen if you put a fuse in a light socket, or vice-versa?
I've never tried this, but I was wondering what would happen if I put a fuse in a light socket and turned it on? Would the effects be different if I used a 15A, 20A, or 30A fuse? Also, what happens if I put a 100W light bulb in the fuse box in place of a fuse?
The fuse in the light socket would blow or cause the one in the panel to blow as soon as it was tightened. The light bulb in the fuse holder would cause the bulb to be in series with what ever is on that circuit. The voltage would never go beyond the normal 120 volts, but it would divide and you could get a low voltage to a computer, TV, or sensitive electronic equipment, and burn it out. My advise is leave well enough alone. Home insurance is expensive enough.
