When I print pics from my 35mm film camera they are washed out and dusty. Why is this?
I recently had the body and lens cleaned and checked for light leaks and aperture accuracy and it all came back perfect. I thought it might be old film but even brand new rolls and paper produce this effect. I don't know what else it could be.
I had a problem like that when I used 1600 ASA film. The pictures were also kind of grainy. I agree that 400 is usually fine for most situations.
Are you printing these yourself or having them developed by a photo processor?
-If you are doing it yourself, try different papers. Also check your print settings. Some settings will conserve ink or use an amount that works great on glossy paper but makes it look flat and faded on 20# white bond.
-If a photo developer is doing it, try a different business. The problem could be in their process, and not anything on your end.
